In a bold move into the beauty sector, British singer, model, and actress Rita Ora has officially announced her latest venture — the launch of a new haircare brand, Typebea, on April 18.
Designed to address a variety of hair concerns with a focus on hair growth and health, the brand, pronounced “Type B,” is the fruitful result of a collaboration with beauty entrepreneur Anna Lahey, renowned for her work with Vida Glow.

A Meeting of Minds
The partnership began in 2021 after a chance encounter at a Vida Glow event in Australia. It was there that Ora and Lahey bonded over their mutual struggles with hair damage and loss, sparking the idea for Typebea. Ora, known for her daring hair transformations in the name of art and fashion, realized the toll her styling choices had taken on her hair health.
“Throughout my career, I’ve had almost every hair color and style. My hair was bleached, I got extensions, I cut it short. But now I can say that my hair is the healthiest it has ever been,” Ora shared on Instagram, expressing her journey from hair havoc to hair health.

The Science Behind Typebea
The duo dedicated three years to the development of Typebea’s initial product lineup, meticulously crafting formulas that cater to diverse hair types and concerns. The line includes:

  • G1 Overnight Boosting Peptide: A $52 leave-in serum formulated with three peptides to enhance growth, which is said to show results after just one 100mL bottle.
  • G2 Strength + Length Shampoo: A $26 shampoo with salicylic acid that gently exfoliates the scalp.
  • G3 Strength + Length Conditioner: A $26 conditioner infused with plant-based keratin to support hair growth without weighing hair down.
  • G4 Hydra-Gloss Treatment: A $33 hydrating mask enriched with hyaluronic acid designed to impart a quick, lustrous sheen.
Baicapil™, a blend of three plant-based actives, serves as the hero ingredient across the lineup, promising to stimulate hair growth and improve hair density.

Beyond Product
Typebea isn’t just about products; it’s about accessibility and inclusivity. The formulations have been dermatologically tested on various hair types, ensuring they meet a broad spectrum of needs—from oily to dry, curly to straight.
Ora and Lahey are also hinting at future expansions, with a styling range on the horizon and discussions of travel-sized versions, responding to early consumer feedback.

As the beauty industry witnesses a shift towards the “skinification” of hair care, Ora’s Typebea is set to make a significant impact. With a commitment to addressing the health of hair as rigorously as one would care for their skin, Typebea is poised to become a staple for those seeking effective, inclusive, and health-focused hair solutions.
